Niamh Gallagher is an affiliated PhD candidate at the Research Center for Education and the Labour Market (ROA). Under the supervision of Prof. dr. Mark Levels and dr. Barbara Belfi, her research focus is the consequences of immigration laws and policies for migrant students in destination countries.
Niamh is a former student of Maastricht University’s Faculty of Law, where she obtained her LL.M in European Law in 2009. After her studies she worked for a corporate immigration law firm, Fragomen LLP, in Brussels, Zurich, London and then Dubai. In 2016 Niamh joined Ernst & Young where she held management positions in the People Advisory Services team and advised clients on immigration and social security requirements for the Middle East. Niamh remains based in Dubai and is now pursuing her PhD on a full-time basis.
