Alexandra is a PhD student in Economics at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics in the Netherlands. She started her PhD in 2015 at the Department of Economics and at the Research Center for Education and the Labour Market (ROA). Her PhD dissertation focuses on labor, education and behavioral economics, and explores how individuals from underprivileged backgrounds might make decisions that limit their chances of inter-generational mobility. Her research interests include human capital investments and inter-generational mobility, and the transmission and formation of preferences and beliefs. She is interested in the way preferences, beliefs and subjective expectations of individuals affect their decisions to invest in education and their later outcomes.
