ROA is seeking a PhD candidate in the field of education economics / sociology of education

Are you (about to) graduate as an economist, econometrician or sociologist with strong quantitative skills and an interest in researching the educational pathways of children who have undergone complex medical treatments at a young age (such as chemotherapy or heart surgery)? Are you enthusiastic about interdisciplinarity and would you enjoy working as an economist/econometrician/sociologist alongside healthcare professionals at the LUMC on this topic? The Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) at Maastricht University, in collaboration with Leiden University Medical Centre, is offering a four-year PhD position, starting on 1 September 2026.
