Environment, Education and Labour
-
Climate change and environmental pollution are major global challenges with wide-ranging impacts on health, education, and employment. These issues impose significant social and economic costs, from health problems and reduced productivity to disruptions in the labour market. Within this theme, we examine the intersection between environmental quality, education and labour, focusing in particular on the broader consequences of environmental pollution for education and the labour market, and the way in which government policy influences. Firstly, the study examines how environmental conditions influence educational attainment, career choices and individual productivity. It also looks at how poor environmental quality can affect access to opportunities, particularly for vulnerable groups. Secondly, it examines how education and labour markets can actively contribute to environmental policy and facilitate the green transition. This includes exploring how to design policies that foster the development of green skills, promote green jobs, and ensure that workers are prepared to meet the demands of a more sustainable economy. Together, these research efforts aim to generate insights that inform evidence-based policymaking and contribute to a fair and inclusive transition toward a greener future.
