Migration, International and Regional Mobility

Research in this theme covers multiple forms of geographical mobility in the labour market and in education, as well as the associated demographic and economic developments. ROA investigates the flows of and associated motives for various forms of both domestic and foreign migration. Domestic migration mainly concerns labour mobility between regions within the Netherlands and the choice of study programmes in different regions. With regard to foreign migration and international mobility, we conduct research into labour migration, study migration and mobility between border regions of neighbouring countries, among other things.
