Julian Kortendieck is an affiliated PhD candidate at the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) of Maastricht University and the UN University (UNU MERIT). Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Annemarie Künn-Nelen and Dr. Fabiana Visentin, Julian conducts research on lifelong learning from three perspectives. Firstly, he explores how training programs can be designed to meet the preferences of older workers using a stated preference experiment. Secondly, Julian uses a unique German dataset and a dynamic propensity matching method to assess the employment effects of subsidized IT training for the unemployed. Thirdly, he investigates gender disparities in wage outcomes from subsidized training programs utilizing a decomposition analysis.
Besides the PhD, Julian works as Tech Education Lead at ReDI School of Digital Integration in Berlin. He designs and coordinates educational programs for displaced individuals to enhance their employability in the tech sector. Julian holds a BA in Business and Economics from the FAU Friedrich Alexander University in Nuremberg and an MSc in Business from the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.
