BRIDGE - Building Resilient Individuals through Effective Gradual Educational Transitions

BRIDGE is an impact-driven project that aims to build resilient individuals through effective educational transition by formulating robust policy recommendations on education and training policies, the efficient use of public resources and the support of equity and inclusion in education and training systems in the EU.

Education is widely recognized by the EU and its member states as a powerful tool to ensure equal opportunities and breaking patterns of inequality in academic achievement and labor market success. Yet, one in ten young adults in the EU still leaves education before completing secondary school.

Funded by: BRIDGE is funded by the European Commission in its Horizon Europe framework (grant 101177154).

Duration: The BRIDGE project started on February 1, 2025 and ends on January 31, 2029.

  • Educational inequalities are widening, with young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds facing a higher risk of dropping out. These challenges were further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted learning and deepened existing disparities.

The BRIDGE project is essential in tackling these pressing issues. Our mission is to provide evidence-based policy recommendations to enhance participation and completion rates in upper secondary and tertiary education while promoting effective educational choices. By examining factors such as school systems, teaching methods, socio-economic environments, and individual traits, BRIDGE seeks to understand the root causes of poor educational outcomes and inequalities. Utilizing state-of-the-art quantitative and qualitative methods, we evaluate the impact of education policies on learning outcomes and labor market performance. Through close collaboration with education stakeholders, BRIDGE strives to contribute to a more equitable and resilient education system that equips young people with the skills needed to thrive in the face of digital, green, and social transitions.

The BRIDGE project is a collaborative effort by a multidisciplinary consortium of five leading European universities and a non-governmental organization. We aim to address critical challenges in education by fostering inclusive learning environments and improving educational transitions across Europe.
